At Beckfoot Nessfield, we pride ourselves on recognising individuals who strive to be even better tomorrow than they are today. As part of this, we use a rewards system called ePraise to reinforce commitment to achievement.
Praise points
Praise points are rewards that students can collect for aiming high in different areas of school life linked to our school values of Kindness, Hard work and Ambition. Children will be individually awarded praise points from staff for a range of actions, these include:
- Kindness: doing the right thing, showing respect, no outsiders, and being a role model
- Hard work: resilience, independence, teamwork, curiosity, creativity and making links
- Ambition: having growth mindset and challenging yourself
Each child has their own private profile which shows how many points they have earned and the actions they were rewarded for as well as the teacher or member of staff that awarded those points. Pupils can choose to save their points or redeem them in the online store. Children can choose from a range of items such as a special table at lunch.
Houses
Not only do the children earn praise points for themselves, but they also earn them for their house team. Each team is made up of children from Reception to Year 6 and staff members. Our houses are:
- London, red
- Edinburgh, blue
- Belfast, green
- Cardiff, yellow
Each house has two House Captains from Year 6, and two Deputy House Captains from Year 5. These students will lead their house and work alongside staff in their house.
Throughout the year, we aim to have several opportunities for the children to work alongside their House Team members, though the most awaited is Sports Day. The children compete in different activities receive points for winning events. The points earned from Sports Day are added to ePraise and the team with the most points will be awarded the House Team Trophy and have their team name added to the House Team Shield.
